Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
To solve demographic issues and labor market demands in Canada’s Atlantic provinces—New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador—the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) was created. Established in 2017, the Atlantic Initiative Project (AIP) seeks to bring and keep entrepreneurs, highly qualified professionals, and recent graduates in the Atlantic area, supporting the region’s economic development.
The Atlantic Immigration Program includes several immigration streams, each tailored to meet specific labor market needs and priorities in the region:
- Atlantic High-Skilled Program: Target people with one year of work experience in full-time skilled work.
- Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program: This stream targets people with at least one year of work experience in a semi-skilled occupation
- Atlantic International Graduate Program: This stream targets international graduates from eligible publicly funded institutions in the Atlantic region.
- Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP): The AIPP is a combinational effort between the federal government and the Atlantic provinces to facilitate the bringing of foreign workers into the region.
Eligible applicants may get a nomination under the Atlantic Immigration Program from one of the Atlantic provinces, which can greatly speed up the immigration procedure. After that, candidates may use the Express Entry system or another application procedure to apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.
The overall goals of the Atlantic Immigration Program are to bring foreign graduates and skilled laborers to the Atlantic region, assist companies in filling labor shortages, and stimulate prosperity and economic progress in the local community.
